First aid course (Samaritans course)
Carouge-Towers

This course is intended for anyone who wants to deepen their knowledge and learn how to react appropriately in a medical emergency.

Open to participants from the age of 12, it is recommended for everyone and mandatory for those wishing to obtain a driving licence for a car (cat. B) or motorcycle/scooter (cat. A1/A).
The aim of the course is to enable you to assess an emergency situation and respond appropriately, whether on the road or in everyday life.

You’ll be faced with real-life scenarios through role-playing and simulations, allowing you to learn the right reflexes and life-saving techniques. You’ll specifically learn how to perform effective chest compressions and use a defibrillator correctly — all in a relaxed yet serious atmosphere.
The course combines lectures with active participation. During the training, you will practice life-saving techniques on our manikins, based on prior verbal explanations or demonstrations.

Video scenarios will be shown throughout the course, helping you to imagine yourself in various realistic everyday situations.
This course is participatory and does not include a formal exam. However, some of the topics covered may appear as questions in the theory test. At the start of the session, clear learning objectives will be presented, and you must be able to meet them in order to receive the certificate of attendance. This document is required when applying for a learner’s permit at the road traffic office in your canton of residence.

The course is recognized throughout Switzerland. The certificate is valid for 6 years from the date of the final session. For individuals who have already obtained a category B (car) or A (motorcycle) driving licence, it remains valid for life.
