Once you have completed modules 1 and 2 of your 12-hour basic motorcycle course and achieved the required objectives, a certificate of completion will be made available to you. You can download it directly from your customer area. We will also notify the Cantonal Vehicle Office (OCV) of your place of residence.
All that remains is to complete module 3 to finalize your basic practical training.

Required documents: valid learner’s permit
This course is for you if you fall into one of the following two cases:
- You hold a learner’s permit for motorcycle/scooter in category A1 or A. In this case, you must take this course within the validity period of your permit, after completing modules 1 and 2.
- You obtained a driving licence for subcategory A1 before 01.01.2020 and wish to upgrade to category A (max. 35 kW). Since you already completed modules 1 and 2 to obtain A1, only module 3 is required in this case.
In both cases, you must have obtained a learner’s permit for either category A1 or A before enrolling in the course.
- Preparation for safe cornering
- High-speed braking
- Cornering (uphill and downhill)
- Driving on winding and special roads
- Driving outside built-up areas
- Hazard awareness
- Economical, eco-friendly, anticipative and vehicle-specific driving
The modules of the basic motorcycle course (IPB) are delivered using a moderated, hands-on learning approach.
Throughout the course, you will identify your difficulties, explore possible solutions, discuss them with other participants and your instructor, and put them into practice effectively and concretely.
Once you have completed the basic motorcycle course by validating module 3 and achieving the set objectives, a certificate of completion will be made available to you. You will be able to download it directly from your client area, and we will also notify the road traffic office (OCV) in your canton of residence.
If a practical exam is required in your case, your learner’s permit will be automatically extended by 12 additional months, for a total of 16 months including the initial 4. During this time, you’ll be able to refine your skills and register for the practical exam to obtain your credit-card-format licence (PCC).
